The first step prior to travelling during the winter, if you haven't already done so already, is getting the flu vaccine at least 2 weeks before you travel, to allow your body time to build immunity.Preparing for your trip can be stressful, be sure and leave time for self-care and rest, a good night's sleep, 8 hours the night before you travel will do your body wonders.It's important to hydrate yourself by drinking water daily and even more so while travelling. The less hydrated you are the more your body is susceptible to viruses and bacteria.Eating a well-balanced diet including fruits and vegetables as well as vitamins and antioxidants can boost your immune system and prevent illness. 

 Next it's best to prepare a travel kit filled with the following essentials:

  • Nasal Spray – to keep nasal passage lubricated, otherwise we lose valuable defenses especially on flights where cabin pressure is low.
  • Hand Sanitizer – at least 60% alcohol.Be sure to wash hands often as well using soap and running water.
  • Wipe Sanitizers – Did you know flu virus can live on a hard surface for up to 24 hours. Other viruses and bacteria can live up to a week on surfaces as well. Be sure to wipe down the area before sitting down, especially seat buckle, tray table and overhead vents.
  • Face Mask – Viruses such as the Corona are highly contagious, antiviral masks rated N95 are best worn to prevent contamination.
  • Tissues – If you yourself are feeling sick cover your mouth when you cough and use tissues
  • Pain/Fever Medicine – Be prepared in case you feel ill with proper pain and fever reducing medicine.
